feb-image University awarded Fairtrade status
We are proud to announce that the University has been awarded Fairtrade status. After a culmination of efforts over the last few years a Fairtrade steering group was set up comprising of student and academic representation, the Students' Union and the Hospitality Department with the goal of achieving Fairtrade status.

The Fairtrade Universities and Colleges scheme started in 2003 and now has over 70 members in the UK. A Fairtrade University or College is one that has made a commitment to supporting and using Fairtrade products. Over the past few years we have been raising awareness of Fairtrade with students and staff and the benefits that it brings to producers in developing countries. We have tried to make sure that Fairtrade products are available in as many places as possible. Gaining Fairtrade status is an important step for us, as large institutions have a global responsibility towards ethical trading. We are proud to be a part of the future of Fairtrade.
